Sea of Clouds

The Story Behind the Song: “Sea of Clouds”

Music by Desiree Robinson
Spoken word by Moresa Robinson and Joshua Byrd

Have you ever been so awestruck by the view of the clouds out of your window during a flight?

I have, which is where the inspiration for this song came from.

As I looked at the clouds on my flight to New Jersey on the afternoon of June 26th 2017, God revealed to me just how significant it was to have the opportunity to be up in the sky looking at the earth below me. In that moment while on the plane, God gave me this song. (It was interesting figuring out the best way to record it without bothering the folks around me.)

We often see the dark things going on around us today and get weary, but in that moment, all I could do was enjoy the view and the ride. God spoke to me about how people who lived during the age of the Bible only dreamed and mostly could not even fathom the idea of being so far from the ground. Yet there I, and every one else on the plane, was.

Instantly something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he got up and was baptized.

Acts 9:18

Though the world is dark and growing even darker each day, God is just as good as He always was, currently is, and forever will be. He so chose and longed to be close and intimate with each and every human being on earth that He sent His son, Jesus Christ to live here. Jesus lived here so that WE could realize just how close and real God was to us. Jesus die here so that anyone who chose to believe in Him could spiritually and eternally have direct access to God.

For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 4:6

God is always with us and Jesus lives in us so that we can live lives of light. God never wanted us to live in darkness, which is why He put His light within His children. This light can completely eliminate the darkness in your sphere of influence. This light should not be covered, but allowed to shine brightly.

You are the light of the world–like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

Matthew 5:14-16

Just as God had taught me the summer before when I went to California, though I was traveling solo, I was never alone. Though moments feel impossible, everything is possible for God who allows us to meet Him where we are, no matter how low, and lifts us up. There are many things we go through that we put on ourselves, but God can work with that, as long as we repent and call on Him in truth.

The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.
Psalm 145:18

Even when times and flights are turbulent, God is the pilot and in control. He sees far beyond the moment and has already worked things out according to His will.

And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.

Romans 8:28

I pray this encourages you to tap into all that God has in store for you with faith, knowing He is working on your behalf, simply because He loves you and you love Him.
